Home All The News Potter: Bissouma has ability to excel in the Champions League
Brighton boss Graham Potter thinks Yves Bissouma has the right attributes to excel in the Champions League.
The midfielder has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, most notably Liverpool and Man Utd.
The Seagulls are understandably desperate to keep one of their star players. That won’t stop a potentially massive bid from football’s elite, however.
Bissouma scored a fantastic goal as Brighton edged past League One Blackpool in the FA Cup.
Gary Madine equalised for Blackpool just before half time, giving the Seasiders hope they could continue their cup run.
Speaking about Bissouma after the win, Potter told reporters: “He’s got that quality (to play in the Champions League), he’s got those attributes that you need at that level.
“It’s about him being consistent enough to do that. I think he’s made steps with that but there’s still more to do and more to come.
“It’s just nice that our players have taken a step forward, it’s nice for Yves that he’s taken a step forward. You never know anything in football these days.
“But from his perspective, I think he’s happy here, he wants to help the team, so we are quite relaxed about everything.”
Speaking about the midfielder’s goal, Potter continued: “We were getting a bit frustrated with him because he had a couple of shots before that which were scuffed along the floor.
“When he shot, I was nearly close to getting frustrated again and then you see it fly in the top corner and it’s hard to argue with that.
“He keeps telling me he’s got that quality and that ability to strike from distance. We’re happy for him, happy that he’s contributed to the game and is getting us through to the next round.”
Bissouma scored a brilliant goal as Brighton secured a 2-1 victory over League One side Blackpool.
Graham Potter has praised his players for their spirited performance in the 1-0 win against Leeds.
Brighton have lost all six of their league encounters with Pep Guardiola’s side since winning promotion in 2017.
Arsenal will wait to make a move for Yves Bissouma but the Brighton midfielder is said to fancy it…
Brighton – who won one PL home game in 2020 – sit two points above the relegation zone ahead of Wolves’ visit.
Brighton reached 13 points in the Premier League with a 2-2 draw against West Ham away from home.
The next round will inevitably be tougher, but West Ham should fear nobody right now. They look good.
Mikel Arteta must now reward Arsenal fans with three points in midweek or face their wrath once again…
Alan Shearer was brilliant. Alan Shearer is down to earth. Alan Shearer was the beating Geordie heart of Newcastle.
Liverpool are in CRISIS. But is it full-blown yet? And what of that ‘gibbering, finger-jabbing nutter’ in charge?
Everyone should take the FA Cup seriously. Except this year, when some teams shouldn’t.
