CalWood Fire burning in Boulder County; evacuations in place

All evacuations East of N. Foothills Highway have been lifted. Residents in the town of Lyons, including those on Apple Valley Road up to Highway 36, are being advised to be prepared to evacuate in case the fire behavior changes tomorrow. According to the Boulder Office of Emergency Management, the town of Jamestown is being evacuated. Click here for a map of current evacuations.

There is an evacuation check-in point set up at 3460 N. Broadway – Boulder County’s North Broadway Complex at Broadway and Iris. Evacuees and pets can go there to check in and receive further information. #CalWoodFire

There are multiple road closures along highway 7. Colorado State Patrol is asking people to avoid the area if possible. C-DOT is urging travelers to avoid unnecessary trips to Boulder and Larimer counties so emergency responders and evacuating residents can move as needed.

Foothills Highway between Boulder and Lyons, including all access off all feeder roads, and South St. Vrain (Highway 7) between the west end of Lyons and the Peak-to-Peak Highway (Hwy 72) will remain closed all night.

Officials have not yet said what caused the flames. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
